The Queen of Soul submitted by Meginator on August 12, 2020, 5:56pm Aretha Franklin is known as the Queen of Soul for a reason, and this collection includes many of the recordings that helped create and cement her reputation. Franklin’s range is remarkable, from the take-no-prisoners confidence of “Respect” to the meditation of her versions of “The Weight” and “Let It Be”, and she excels on every single track. Most artists would be lucky to have half as many songs of such high quality as these, and this compilation represents only 3-4 years of Franklin’s career. It is a fine collection and a solid introduction to Franklin’s extensive catalogue, showcasing one of the very finest vocalists at her very best.
