Shows you a different time in American Politics submitted by emroon on July 17, 2022, 3:30pm I am not always in to the glorification of politicians or their spouses as people, but Betty Ford had a huge impact outside of politics. This book detailed her life starting in Michigan, as a political wife, first lady and later as an addiction advocate. There was a lot I didn't know about Betty Ford, being born after Gerald R. Ford was president. The fact that she openly disagreed with her husband and his party on issues like the ERA would be unheard of these days and it was nice to see that that kind of thing used to happen. It was insightful, interesting, and an enjoyable read. I think Betty Ford was ahead of her time.
