The Lumberjanes Try Roller Derby! submitted by Meginator on July 14, 2019, 6:44pm Even by the Lumberjanes’ high standards, this volume is a stand-out addition to the series. Roller derby is such a perfect fit for the campers that I'm actually kind of shocked it took them this long to try it out. This story arc also dives deeper into some of the characters' relationships, particularly Mal and Molly's, and has a nice throwback to one of the comic's early storylines. The conflict here is also relatively low-stakes, which is a nice change of pace, particularly as the series hints at some darker content yet to come. From its summer camp hijinks to the fluffy re-imagining of classic supernatural creatures and the campers' can-do spirit and mutual support, this book perfectly encapsulates everything that makes the Lumberjanes so wonderful.
