A Different Musical Direction, But It Works submitted by Meginator on July 1, 2019, 10:56pm Though the Plain White T’s are best-known for a very stripped-down, acoustic single, and had a pretty standard pop-punk/indie sound otherwise, this album’s very current, electronic vibe suits the band surprisingly well. The lyrics are generally straightforward encapsulations of the various aspects of love, delivered with just enough plaintive longing to work, and somehow it all comes off rather convincingly. The hooks are huge and catchy and the electronic instrumentation feels completely natural for what they’re trying to achieve. This album runs the risk of becoming quickly dated, perhaps, but in the meantime it’s a lot of fun and comes together very well.
