Deep Cuts Reworked submitted by Meginator on August 11, 2021, 4:54pm This album finds Paul Simon revisiting some of the deeper cuts from solo career with predictably amazing results. When you take one of the best songwriters in popular music and give them an opportunity to tweak songs that didn’t quite work as intended and the benefit of decades of hindsight and experience, it’s no surprise that these songs are absolutely enchanting. Simon characteristically draws from a number of genres, from jazz to his signature stripped-down acoustic style, though the overall vibe is very introspective and laid-back. This album adds a new dimension to Simon’s vast catalogue, and though it’s not the best place to start with his music it represents so much of what makes him so good.
