Mixed Review submitted by Ella K on June 26, 2019, 5:36pm While Mamma Mia is a classic movie that you'll want to sing and dance along to, I found the second movie a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong, its still great guilty pleasure, but I felt that it was lacking on many levels. For example, in the original movie, Meryl Streep was one of the very best actors but also a wonderful character. So instead of showcasing her talent in the sequel, the decide to kill her and create a new character, her rich mother played by Cher (who is only 3 years older than Streep). Overall, you should watch it for a chick-flick and a smile, but don't expect great content or a good quality movie.

Musical submitted by moola on July 13, 2019, 11:09am Must enjoy a musical

Such a delight!! submitted by jaromatorio on July 22, 2019, 3:38pm This is such a fun, feel-good musical!! The casting was perfect, and though they killed off one of the best characters, the film still manages to delight!

My favorite movie submitted by dlfredrickson on July 26, 2019, 3:53pm My mom likes the first movie better, but I LOVE this one. Its so fun, and the music is amazing!!!

Low quality, crazy storyline submitted by gracekil on August 14, 2019, 1:29pm Wow this second Mamma Mia musical/movie was pretty bad. The story is dumb, doesn't make sense, and it drove me nuts.
The singing and Meryl Streep were pretty good. Everything else was painful to watch.

Not nearly as good as the first submitted by dntanzer on August 26, 2019, 8:27pm Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this one. I found the characters and plot pretty annoying. Some of the music was good but it didn't make the movie worth watching.

Superior Sequel submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 9:42pm This is that rare creature, a follow-up film that exceeds its predecessor, all while serving as both a prequel and a sequel to the original story. Sure, this film suffers from some of the same flaws, like a tendency for the songs to feel somewhat disconnected from the narrative and some, uh, less than stellar vocal performances (not naming names here, but if you saw the first film you know precisely who I’m talking about), but it is just as fun as Mamma Mia! with a more coherent plot and more convincing emotional beats. I loved the way that the plots intertwined, the acting performances are excellent, and the film hits the right balance of camp and seriousness to fire on all cylinders. It’s a lot of fun. And if all of that doesn’t sell you on the film, it also features Cher. You’re welcome.

Good Movie! submitted by Xris on July 1, 2020, 11:18pm I enjoyed the movie, but I didn't know all the songs. I would have liked it if I could have sung along better, like in the first movie. Still I liked seeing the way Donna met all the possible fathers.

Didn't like it submitted by sara on August 16, 2020, 12:06pm The arrangement of the music was strange, didn't care about the characters, and the plot jumped around.

Entertaining submitted by denisemw on August 25, 2020, 4:44pm Good sequel, but not with many of the familiar Abba hits. Story line is good. I suspect Meryl Street has the good sense to have a minimal role (and without close ups) due to her miscasting in the original due to her age (Thirty seven years age difference between her and Amanda Seyfried, who plays her daughter... Meryl would be hard pressed to be considered a young mother at 37).

Cher is excellent, as are new characters. Choreography and production are excellent.

If you like Abba and want to smile, you will like this.

Enjoyable submitted by cldaniels on July 20, 2021, 4:04pm Fun, but music, plot and characters are not as great as first.

Fun submitted by lfmarcus on August 4, 2021, 11:58am Lily James is the best part of this, she is ADORABLE.

excellent! submitted by umich.reader on June 17, 2022, 6:13pm Excellent! It rivals the first one.

No plot submitted by meerakmr on August 20, 2022, 12:18pm Why did Meryl Streep have to die in this movie? Also, I felt there was no plot. Cher seemed like a random addition.
