Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story. Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It's Jack, the man from the bus. It would be. What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

love story through and through submitted by kerstinrh on June 20, 2019, 6:29pm This is a love story through and through. Laurie and Jack have a love at first sight moment when their eyes meet one December day. However, before they are able to meet, the bus Laurie is on drives away and they are both left wondering what could have been. Fast forward to when Laurie meets her best friend Sarah's new boyfriend who turns out to be Jack. Its a story of love, friendship, complicated relationships and missed connections. It's a nice love story with a happy ending. ⁣

Easy read! submitted by ohheyitselle on July 18, 2019, 7:10pm This was a really fast and easy read. The story is predictable, but what love story isn't? :)

Book + Hammock submitted by Eli_O on August 19, 2020, 3:52pm Quick and entertaining. Predictable plot, but an easy summer read.

Easy but fun submitted by emma_rose21 on August 18, 2021, 8:58pm I really loved this book, the page count can be a little daunting but don't worry it is a very fast and easy read that got me out of my reading slump.

Too much wasted life time for me! submitted by jgetty on October 14, 2021, 11:31am I read this book because it's on Reese Witherspoon's Book List. It was OK, wouldn't recommend, just a book, not riveting, just something to read to get to sleep at night, but I persevered to finish it. The women all jumped into serious relationships WAY too quickly with the men, and stayed in them for WAY too long. Lots of poor communication between couples. The women should have moved on more quickly if they were looking for commitment, and they wasted so much time. A DECADE later finally won the prize, but of course who knows if that one will work out either! Just seemed like a lot of wasted time of their lives.

Pretty Good submitted by rmbussa on July 9, 2022, 5:21pm I thought this book was pretty good. The characters changed and developed over time and coped with life events that are present in early 20s to early 30s. I would recommend to others as a decent romance novel with a lot of pining.

Missed opportunities submitted by pamhockey25 on August 8, 2022, 6:35pm Best friend's boyfriend...decades pass. Sort of a long story, a bit angsty, so can be a good read if you're in the mood for that.

heartfelt and enjoyable submitted by gw on August 23, 2023, 1:08pm I appreciated the characters' devotion to friendships instead of them being 100% centered on the pursuit of romantic relationships, as well as the story's somewhat realistic description of young adult life.
