When an accident changes everything, Anna is thrown back in touch with her French teacher, Claire, who offers her the chance of a lifetime -- to work in Paris with her former sweetheart, Thierry, a master chocolatier. With old wounds about to be uncovered and healed, Anna is set to discover more about real chocolate -- and herself -- than she ever dreamed.
It's true that Anna Trent is a supervisor in a chocolate factory ... but that doesn't necessarily mean she knows how to make chocolate. And when a fateful accident gives her the opportunity to work at Paris's elite chocolatier Le Chapeau Chocolat, Anna expects to be outed as a fraud. After all, there is a world of difference between chalky, mass-produced English chocolate and the gourmet confections Anna's new boss creates. But with a bit of luck and a lot of patience, Anna might learn that the sweetest things in life are always worth working for.

Fun, but not sensible submitted by Susan C on January 4, 2021, 9:05pm The beginning of the book does not make sense with the end. If you don’t try to make sense of it, the story was a quick read and had some laugh-out-loud moments. I enjoyed the characters. The descriptions provide vivid images.

Great Descriptions of Paris & Chocolate submitted by sdunav on July 22, 2021, 1:28pm As you would expect from the title, the ambiance of Paris and flavors are delicious. Two intertwined stories - one from the 1970's, and one from the present day - make the narrative a bit jarring, but the characters are interesting, and complicated. It was good escapist reading, especially if you check out of your library (it's not a story I would re-read, but some of the images will linger). The romance was rather secondary and not particularly integral to the story.
