Very Difficult submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:25pm I found this seek and find book to be both too difficult and visually unappealing, with a bright neon palette further obscuring efforts to locate various Christmas ornaments within a series of cluttered scenes. I appreciate the way that Cronin creates a coherent story that explains why the reader is participating in the interactive component, but the pictures are filled almost solely with fake-out images and have little to nothing in the way of amusing asides that appear in the genre’s best books. I don’t mind the occasional cheap shot in these books, but it’s almost impossible to distinguish what you’re supposed to be looking for from the general detritus. Without any real reward for fully scanning the pages, except for possibly stumbling across one of the poorly described ornaments you’re supposed to be looking for, the book feels a bit tedious. I didn’t get any joy from this book and gave up on the seek and find element after the second spread.
