Sequel to: Rogue Protocol.
Martha Wells's Hugo, Nebula, Alex, and Locus Award-winning, New York Times and USA Today bestselling series, The Murderbot Diaries, comes to a thrilling conclusion in Exit Strategy. Murderbot wasn't programmed to care. So, its decision to help the only human who ever showed it respect must be a system glitch, right? Having traveled the width of the galaxy to unearth details of its own murderous transgressions, as well as those of the GrayCris Corporation, Murderbot is heading home to help Dr. Mensah--its former owner (protector? friend?)--submit evidence that could prevent GrayCris from destroying more colonists in its never-ending quest for profit. But who's going to believe a SecUnit gone rogue? And what will become of it when it's caught?

A Satisfying Conclusion submitted by BurntSaori on July 1, 2019, 9:20pm GrayCris is desperate and on the ropes and will do anything to avoid the consequences of it's evildoing. Can Murderbot rescue Mensah and save the day? Will It avoid all the Corporate interests trying to capture It? Will it ever get time to watch It's media again?

An excellent bridge from the novellas to the first full length novel submitted by eknapp on August 24, 2020, 3:40pm The series comes full circle and closes out with Murderbot undertaking a complex, improbable rescue mission. Dr Mensah, MB's benefactor and friend from volume 1, has been kidnapped for revenge/ransom by GrayCris, the homicidal, vindictive, greedy corporation from that volume. Author Martha Wells finds solid new adversaries, challenges, and talents for our reluctant hero.

Kudos to Wells for avoiding the obvious "Pinocchio complex" plot path. Murderbot isn't sure what he wants out of life but he assuredly does not yearn to be human and in fact recoils at the stupidity of the idea. This series is one of the best takes on AI-with-free-will I've ever encountered.
