Japanese Knitting by Michiyo. submitted by sara on June 18, 2020, 11:29am The book is touted as the first Japanese book to be translated into English, but it’s not the first I’ve seen. Suddenly “Japanese Knitting” seems all the rage. This book includes crochet as well as knitting. All the patterns are charted rather than written out- so knowing how to knit from charts will be helpful to know- although some of the symbols used are not standard English symbols. Still, all is very clearly explained. Another strange thing about this book is that many designs are meant to be worn two ways: vest/stole, bolero/scarf, poncho/cardigan, etc.
