TRULY AWFUL. SO BAD, it is UNWATCHABLE by anybody who has read the original play. submitted by Tassos on March 6, 2019, 8:53am Theater plays are not meant to be movies, and most of them fail. This was a perfectly fine play by CHECKOV, and it is brought to the movies by a bunch of Hollywood starlets who do not even ATTEMPT to give it the correct flavor. It is RIDICULOUS to see Americans play the parts of Russians, and not even give their english accent even a tiny bit of a Russian flavor. I bet the low-budget flick was not even SET in CRIMEA where the theatrical play is supposed to happen. UNWATCHABLE by any fan of CHECKHOV and the Russian GREATS. GOD AWFUL.
Really liked it!

I really liked this movie. I don't know much about theater, or Chekov. But as a movie, this one delivered. If you like dramatic or romantic films give this one a go. It's really well acted and well paced for what I remember.
I watched this on easter morning while eating a lot of food. Highly recommended experience.
