Disappointing and shlocky submitted by mandevil on December 6, 2018, 12:11am For a scary movie it is remarkably dull. No coherent story line. Yes a few scary bits but not worth the trouble.

For a dumb Horror movie, this is EXCELLENT and its young director VERY PROMISING. submitted by Tassos on March 7, 2019, 11:34am Most Horror movies are rather bad, often very bad. NOT THIS ONE. I was able to watch it from beginning to end. It is the young director's first movie, I believe. It would be an EXCELLENT movie by any director. The acting is pretty good, and the photography is superb.

not as good as midsommar... sorry someone had to say it submitted by pmheard on June 9, 2023, 11:21am so… midsommar is just hereditary rebranded then? i will say i was expecting a bit more from this, but definitely entertaining. the first half of the film really dragged, but picked up quickly towards the end. overall a bit predictable, but admirable work for a debut thriller film, in every category. cinematography and acting were both fantastics, and leagues ahead comparable films at the time. in regard to the plot itself, i appreciate the intentional vagueness which allowed the audience to make their own observations. definitely fucked up, and exactly what you would want and expect out of a thriller.

coming back to add that i think toni collette killed her role here. just reflecting back on her performance gives me chills, bravo.
