"Since becoming Top Chef's first female winner in 2008, Stephanie Izard has opened three restaurants in Chicago, won the coveted Iron Chef title on Food Network's Iron Chef Gauntlet, got married, and had a baby--and still she finds time to entertain and cook for her friends and family. In Gather & Graze she teaches home cooks how she does it: her tricks, techniques, and shortcuts to cooking creative, knockout dishes with ease and confidence. Fans who wait months to snag a reservation at one of her restaurants can now have Stephanie right alongside them in their kitchens with 120 home-cook-friendly recipes for making Bánh Mì Burgers; Crumpets with Chorizo-Maple Syrup; Roasted Shishito Peppers with Sesame Miso and Parmesan; and Apple Fritters with Cider Glaze"--Page 2 of cover.

Pretty dishes but not super practical submitted by halliejewell on June 20, 2019, 9:57am I loved Stephanie on Top Chef and Girl and the Goat I’m Chicago, so had high expectations for her book. Seemed more like restaurant fare and not great for every day meals.

Some hits, some misses submitted by mowjac on August 4, 2019, 10:51am Restaurant chefs always make things too complicated in their cookbooks. While some of the recipes fit this bill, others don't, particularly the salad and vegetable dishes. Her sauces are delicious and I often use it as an idea book, making less complicated versions of hers.

A Culinary Adventure submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2020, 12:59am In her second published cookbook, Stephanie Izard focuses on fresh foods, often with inspiration from international (particularly Asian) cuisines. Some of these dishes are familiar from her Chicago restaurants, though, alas, none of my personal favorites made it into the book. The recipes are fairly approachable for experienced home cooks, with some exotic ingredients here and there, but beware- preparation instructions are concentrated into small paragraphs- you’ll want to be extra sure to read the whole thing before starting (always a good idea, but absolutely essential here). Tucked among the larger recipes are directions for preparing staples such as hoisin sauce and sweet cream, along with a section at the end concerning various types of pickles. Cooking from this book might prove to be a bit of an adventure, but if they turn out anything like the food at Izard’s restaurants the adventure will be a happy diversion from a cooking rut.

This Little Goat... submitted by majean on July 22, 2022, 2:40pm Big fan of the line of bottled sauces and spices, but these recipes were a little too fancy for my pantry.
