Secrets of Droon submitted by Body Balance on July 30, 2018, 4:18pm It was alittol skery but I liked it.

Good movie(if you don't connect it to the book) submitted by Duckling on August 4, 2018, 10:04am This movie is a great movie. My only problem was I read the book and was hoping they would do most of it based off the book. The main story is based off the book but each challenge was new to me and took a few watches to appreciate the movie alone without the book. It is visually stunning and I enjoyed watching it once I gave up on the book.

Not as good as expected submitted by Claireywang on April 6, 2019, 5:40pm So I loved the book Ready Player One, and so decided to watch the movie. However, the movie has just about nothing to do with the book- all the keys were different, there was only 1 gate at the end, and so I must say, don’t watch the movie unless you haven’t read the book, or you will be VERY VERY confused. So yeah. I don’t recommended it.

Not the book submitted by valerieclaires on June 18, 2019, 4:56pm This movie is certainly not the same as the book Ready Player One. Despite having the same name and characters, and the overall plot being similar, so many of the details and scenes have been changed that it should be regarded as a wholly separate work. It isn't bad, as a wholly separate work, but I did not like it as much as I loved the book.

Ready, set, play submitted by avrogers1 on June 19, 2019, 2:05pm I'll be honest this was my husband's pick and I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Turns out it was great film. Not to far of a stretch from reality if we think about it. I really liked the cast and the special effects were great. We have seen a couple times now.

Entertaining, but too much changed from the original story/book. submitted by lmangus on July 8, 2019, 5:23pm If you just see the movie, without having read the book, you will probably enjoy this. If possible, watch with w/surround sound. It's entertaining, has a great soundtrack and art/graphics, and moves at the modern clip many action/adventures movies of today move. If you read the book and loved it, however, you should be warned...this isn't the same. Or even close. I've discussed this with many friends who also read the book, and all agreed: considering the book material was fantastic, and that it had Spielberg's magic at hand, it was disappointing to see they changed so much.

Completely different from the book submitted by jcottey on July 11, 2019, 6:20pm If you've read the book, don't watch the movie. While the book had deep characters and intricate storylines, the movie does not. I found the characters to be dumbed down and the plot significantly simplified and COMPLETELY different from the book. If you haven't read the book, I suppose it's an okay movie.

Action-focused submitted by majean on July 20, 2019, 10:45am It's a pretty movie, so if you are only looking for visuals, you will probably like it.

Different from the book, but good in its own way submitted by ValerieL on August 5, 2019, 6:05pm Yes, the movie is completely different from the book. But let's face it, in the book, one of the key challenges is to go through Ferris Bueller's Day Off and recite dialogue from it when it cuts out - not exactly something that's translateable on screen - not and still keep a movie within a decent time limit.

The movie has its own separate good and bad parts. I enjoyed the movie immensely just like I enjoyed the book immensely. They're just very different. I think they kept enough premises of the book - the characters, the keys, the gates, the prize at the end the same that it is worth seeing, even tho' it is different from the book.

Good submitted by TLW1998 on August 8, 2019, 11:48pm Action packed movie, better than I expected

loved it submitted by cathydobbins on June 12, 2022, 2:00am Amazing story

Keeps the spirit. Changes the details submitted by kaymbre on July 17, 2023, 7:01am "Ready Player One" takes creative liberties and noticeably departs from the intricacies of the book it is adapted from. While the film retains the core concept of a high-stakes virtual treasure hunt, some fans of the source material might find themselves disappointed with the significant changes to certain plot points and character arcs. However, despite these deviations, the movie manages to stand on its own as an entertaining and visually captivating spectacle that caters to a broader audience beyond the book's loyal readership.
