The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide. Pay close attention and you might solve this.On Thursday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule. Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess. Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing. Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher. And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High's notorious gossip app. Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom alive. And according to investigators, his death wasn't an accident. He died on a Thursday. But that Friday, he'd planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates. Now, all four of them are suspects in his murder. Are they guilty? Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who's still on the loose? They all have a motive. They all have something to hide. They all have a history with Simon. And one of them is definitely lying.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Okay submitted by zmclaugh on July 29, 2018, 11:48am As a mystery, this was well done, but it definitely has problems in terms of its treatment of mental health.

Real, riveting, fun, excellent submitted by gclites on October 2, 2018, 9:20pm GREAT!! book. The characters are so real, so reflective, so fun, and grow so much, just like seniors in high school. I hated to finish the book because the characters went away. The mystery is good, too, but not the best part. Introspective struggles with parents, expectations (peers and community), and social situations are excellent. I read the previous review; I am no expert on mental health, but this book is pretty accurate about how high school is the best of times and the worst of times. (I taught high school for a number of years.)
