Read by Darrell Dennis, Shaun Taylor-Corbett, Alma Cuervo, and Kyla Garcia.
Jacquie Red Feather is newly sober and trying to make it back to the family she left behind in shame in Oakland. Dene Oxendene is pulling his life together after his uncle's death and has come to work the powwow and to honor his uncle's memory. Edwin Black has come to find his true father. Thomas Frank has come to drum the Grand Entry. Opal Viola Victoria Bear Shield has come to watch her nephew Orvil Red Feather; Orvil has taught himself Indian dance through YouTube videos, and he has come to the Big Oakland Powwow to dance in public for the very first time. Tony Loneman is a young Native American boy whose future seems destined to be as bleak as his past, and he has come to the Powwow with darker intentions.

Let's NOT forgot the Native American Indians
submitted by LVDS on August 22, 2020, 5:08pm
Bittersweet short stories that initially seem independent. Then weave together to tell tales we don't often hear, yet we need to know and help them!!
Some rough language, yet they are honest about their rough lives. ALL lives matter!
Still here and still relevant submitted by lizzhuntley on August 29, 2020, 8:50am This was a phenomenal story, masterfully woven together. As you learn more about the characters, you discover how they are all inevitably connected by past tragedies and united by a future one that looks on the horizon of every page. I highly recommend the audiobook version, which brings native voices to life.
