Doesn't live up to the comparison to Douglas Adams submitted by nemiller on June 19, 2022, 3:04pm I've seen this book compared to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a lot. The humor is similar on the surface, not to mention the whole "humans suddenly discover there are a ton of extraterrestrials out there who all know about us" thing. But it was just similar enough in style that it felt like someone trying to be Douglas Adams, rather than just being themself.

I will be honest - I did not finish the book, not even close, so it may get better past the first few hours. From the portion I did read, any given paragraph was funny or clever, or at least was meant to be. A lot of the times, it just came off as mean. I don't think the author actually liked any of the characters she wrote.
