Sequel to: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
Leah Burke is an anomaly in her friend group: the only child of a young, single mom; her life is decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it. And even though her mom knows she's bisexual, she hasn't mustered the courage to tell her friends-- not even her openly gay BFF, Simon. When her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways, it's hard for Leah to strike the right note. And with prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high. If only real life was as rhythmic as her drumming...

Cute, Fun Read submitted by lcaitday on July 7, 2018, 5:36pm I could not put this book down. I identified with Leah way more than I expected and the book just made me so happy. Especially the bisexual representation.

Wonderful submitted by Jinxyluis on July 23, 2018, 9:26am This book is so wonderful. I already loved Leah, but getting to spend a whole book in her POV was delightful, and it was really cool the way the arcs of Simon Vs were continued but informed so differently by Leah's perspective.

Great book, even as a stand-alone submitted by feshile on June 17, 2019, 6:37pm I liked Leah on the Offbeat even more that I liked Simon Versus the Homo-Sapiens Agenda, which I was not expecting. I definitely related to Leah a lot, and I liked the way the author did not rip apart everything that happened in the first book and then just watched it burn like a lot of authors do (ie. setting up a new love interest for the original character and watch them cheat on their original partner). She mostly left Simon alone and just developed Leah and her relationships. This is book is one that I would rate, without hesitation, 6/5 stars.

Pretty Good submitted by Stinglikeawalrus on July 26, 2019, 11:10pm I have loved all of Albertalli's other books, and for the most part I loved this one too. Leah was very relatable throughout the book and it was some great bi representation. I love how stuff carried on from Simon vs, but you could also read this without having read that. But the one problem I had with this book was the ending, and I don't really know why. I love that Leah ended in a happy relationship, but not necessarily who that person was (I didn't really like the other love interest either). I really wanted to like them together, but I just couldn't. Overall, I did really like this book.

Don’t pass this book by submitted by sydcha on August 2, 2019, 10:27pm This book, simply put, is necessary. The themes it takes on are hard to put into words, but the execution of the story is timeless. It’s easy to read but makes you think, and I would recommend this book to everyone.

As we move through the book the theme gets pretty mature. submitted by tbbrown76 on June 20, 2020, 9:49pm But, I still liked all the characters even if I'm not in that particular circle of folks.
Recommended with reservations. Read it before letting your kids do so.

Perfect continuation of Simon Vs! submitted by lexinylander on June 23, 2020, 10:28am I liked this really well. It was a very good continuation of Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and it was cute and sweet and light but still kind of serious.

relatable characters, good story, solid writing submitted by apknapp on August 6, 2023, 9:13pm Very readable self-discovery queer YA. Very funny moments but with some Real Stuff being addressed.
