Hard Sci Fi + YA submitted by nemiller on July 22, 2023, 5:28pm There are so many things to love about this novella! It's a unique combination of hard sci fi and YA. The protagonist is interesting and fleshed out. The world-building is rich and yet not completely exposed (it's like the anti-Tolkien in that you know there is so much more that Okorafor knows about this world, that she hasn't revealed to us yet.) In fact, there's a lot about Binti herself that has only been hinted at. The prose is beautiful and unobtrusive, and Robin Miles reads beautifully, as always.

A great start to an amazing trilogy, and the story stands well on its own. Highly recommended!
