A fascinating look at race relations in a suburban (Michigan) high school submitted by TeacherN on July 27, 2019, 12:24pm I'm a middle school teacher and I found this book to be incredibly interesting and informative. I wish the author could come to my school to observe and write about all those race-related interactions that we as teachers are often too busy or distracted to witness. It made me look at interactions in my school in a completely different light. I am grateful for Dr. Shayla Griffin for writing this excellent book. And I hear she has a new one out, Race Dialogues: A Facilitator's Guide to Tackling the Elephant in the Classroom. I can't wait to read it!
Required reading submitted by ndrasmith on June 24, 2022, 12:22pm Shayla Griffin’s account of her time observing the dynamics of a Michigan exurban high school is essential reading to help people understand how we contribute to racism by refusing to see it and talk about it. Highly recommended
