Good Covers submitted by Meginator on August 29, 2020, 1:30pm Pentatonix are completely in their element here, with intricate 5-part a cappella arrangements of contemporary pop hits. Most of these are fairly faithful translations of the original material, even in the mash-ups (which themselves are hit-or-miss, seemingly crafted for novelty rather than any natural affinities between the chosen songs), but the most interesting tracks are those that tweak the original versions just so to suit their unique talents. Despite some missed opportunities for innovation here, Pentatonix always delivers highly satisfying pop music, and this album is no different in that regard.
