Money and power truly corrupt submitted by ferielp on August 17, 2018, 11:26am I've been to the Getty museum, it's quite frightening to think that even if you quite literally are the richest man in the world, you aren't therefore the most generous despite the fact that you'd have the means to be so. His disdain for wastefulness translated into a huge delay in paying the ransom, but he finds and buys expensive pieces of art that the rest of the world isn't even aware those artists made. By some arbitrary measure, he considers that to not be wasteful? It's mind-boggling and saddening.
