These Jams Will Pump You Up submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2019, 10:51pm This compilation delivers precisely what it promises: a mix of classic rock, modern rock, rap, and country songs that feel naturally connected to sporting events. The tracks are arranged by genre, which has a strange effect of starting somewhat slow and thoughtful (classic rock) before ramping into pump-up aggression (rap) and slowing back down to celebration (country). The country tracks are really more party songs than sports songs, to my mind, but I suppose it’s fair to want to celebrate after a win or drown one’s sorrows with fellow mourners, depending on the outcome of the contest at hand. This isn’t going to be as iconic as any of the Jock Jams mixes (still the authority in this arena), but it’s not a bad latter-day attempt at bottling that lightning.
