"The White House is the home of the President of the United States, the most guarded, monitored, closely watched person in the world. So how could a U.S. President vanish without a trace? And why would he choose to do so? An unprecedented collaboration between President Bill Clinton and the world's bestselling novelist, James Patterson, The President Is Missing is a breathtaking story from the pinnacle of power. Full of what it truly feels like to be the person in the Oval Office--the mind-boggling pressure, the heartbreaking decisions, the exhilarating opportunities, the soul-wrenching power--this is the thriller of the decade, confronting the darkest threats that face the world today, with the highest stakes conceivable."-- From publisher's description.

About what you'd expect submitted by sara on June 16, 2018, 10:20am If you like Patterson, you will like this book. Its a typical thriller. It does remind the reader of all the unseen difficulties of being president- at times you clearly hear Clinton speaking. Ironically, It opens with an impeachment proceeding.

The Internet of Things submitted by aprille on July 1, 2018, 3:37pm A persuasively frightening presentation of cyber terrorism and a betrayal in the top echelons of the US Government. Moves along at a quick clip -- chapters are short and the plot has plenty of reverses to keep you guessing.

Average thriller submitted by spostjacobs on August 22, 2018, 9:18am Knowing that President Clinton is an avid mystery reader, I had high expectations of this book. Instead of being an outstanding page-turner, though, this rates more as a vacation read. The first half of the book has an excellent, fast-moving plot and some interesting character development. There are many details that stand out as unique contributions that could only come from a former President or White House staff member. However, the book unravels a bit throughout its latter half. Parts of the plot begin to feel redundant, and the explanations of anything technical are very clunky. The fictional President is shiny & near-perfect in everything he does. By the end of the book, I was waiting for him to unleash some hidden superpowers (it might have improved things). Even a tiny flaw like loving a terrible band or some sort of awful junk food would have made the character more likable.

President submitted by jduffy12 on August 10, 2019, 2:38pm It is like we don’t have a president

Twists and turns submitted by onpaper24 on August 11, 2019, 11:04am I enjoyed this book. It had a lot going on and I liked the characters

Good read submitted by JennJenn on July 13, 2022, 11:18pm I enjoyed this story and perspective on the presidency. Some quotes in the book were especially poignant and made you think about it country and it's governance. Recommend this as a good read.
