Finds a Musical Sweet Spot submitted by Meginator on June 27, 2020, 6:46pm Musically, Kasey Chambers sits at the sweet spot between country and folk, which aligns perfectly with her tendency toward story-based lyrics. Chambers bares her soul in a way that gives the tracks life and raw emotional power, taking cues from a number of great singer-songwriters but with her own distinct style. She’s a natural storyteller, and the relatively straightforward instrumentation across this double album lets her lyrics and core melodies come through clearly. This album, particularly the second disc, feels stripped down and thus very honest and direct; it’s some of her best music, for sure, and an excellent use of her considerable talent.
