Varina submitted by jancruz on July 10, 2018, 5:43pm Cold Mountain is one of my favorite books of all time; this new title from Charles Frazier has some of the same elements--beautiful, flawed and well defined characters, the civil war setting, clear and resonant prose. Reading it inspired me to delve deeper in to the true story of the lives of Varina Davis and Mary Chestnut both. I found it fascinating!
