Gripping movie about the other side of Orlando submitted by gw on July 22, 2018, 3:01pm This movie tells the story of a 6-year-old girl living in a motel in Orlando with a mom who struggles to pay rent through any means necessary. Willem Dafoe as the motel manager and Brooklynn Prince as Moonee are both outstanding, and all the characters in the movie are richly developed. For a mature audience.

Heartbreaking submitted by bookher on August 1, 2018, 10:58am I was hesitant about this movie because I tend to avoid tear-jerkers but I really thought this was well-done and I loved the ending. Lots to talk about in this movie! I think this is a very real all too true story that is the reality of way too many children today. I loved the child actors in this movie!

Colorful submitted by markwells on June 20, 2019, 7:56pm I really liked the colors in this movie and the child actors seemed so natural and real. I thought the ending was great too. This film is one of those hidden treasures that most people won't see. Grade: B+

A much better movie than other dreaded "coming of age" Happy Horsesheet movies. submitted by Tassos on November 25, 2022, 6:12pm I avoid "coming of age" movies like the plague, but saw this one at the recommendation of the NY Times "1000 best movies".

And I was not disppointed, it was very different than all the idiotic, happy horsesheet movies Hollywood makes over and over in this gendre.

Good performances even by the very young children.
