COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Not real enough submitted by pepemama on June 15, 2018, 2:55pm I loved the book, but the movie didn't seem real enough to real life. Especially August's face, it looked completely normal.

nice dramedy submitted by kencza on June 15, 2018, 7:09pm family dynamics study of a family coping with the son going to "normal" school after being home schooled
after being born with facial and head abnormalities. the daughter feels like she has been overlooked and with Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts as the parents what chance does anyone have? This has some funny and heartwarming moments but overall
it is a little predictable and smarmy. Decent family fare.

Change of Heart submitted by gem on June 16, 2018, 9:29pm I liked this movie. It kept my attention the whole way through. I liked the part where the kids who had made fun of him came around and realized August could be a good friend. I thought showing the sister's feelings could be a real wake-up call to those who have members in their family with greater and more obvious needs to not ignore those who seem to "be making it okay." Everyone needs compassion and love and attention to thrive.

No one gets life perfect, and I liked that this film showed some of the mistakes and how the characters walked through them, and how they fixed some of them.

Saccharine submitted by ferielp on June 21, 2018, 4:42pm There is a good dose of middle and high school angst, but the movie wraps the bullying Auggie experiences up in a neat bow with his erstwhile bullies defending him against newer ones, and the school awarding him a medal for being an inspiration. This, I'm sure, is not the most accurate depiction of the childhoods of people with noticeable congenital conditions.

sweet movie submitted by LVDS on June 25, 2018, 6:44am nice to hear the perspectives of other family members & friends...we all can learn compassion from this movie.

Nice movie to watch with your kids submitted by rbseemail on July 4, 2018, 2:43pm A little overly sweet, but overall an enjoyable movie to watch with a family.

Heartwarming! submitted by bookworms on July 20, 2018, 3:11pm This movie was very fun + inspiring to watch! One of my favorite things about the movie is that it switched perspectives just like it did in the book. My favorite character is Via, because you learn that she has more going on in her life than we think. Even though this movie is great, I think I still prefer the book because it shares a few more details. Definitely a must watch!

Love the book and movie! submitted by Xris on July 23, 2018, 9:36pm I read the book a while ago, but the movie is just as good. Made me cry three times...the dog, the play, the award. Glad I finally got to see the whole thing all together. (Watching it in pieces at school didn't help.)

Wonder submitted by SBNB on July 29, 2018, 1:21pm Great film! Great story! Based on the few previews I saw, I thought it would have more to do with the facial deformity, but the story of the boy, his friends, and family was more than enough to make a wonderful movie.

Wonderful submitted by DL on August 1, 2018, 4:44pm Great story and great acting.

Cute submitted by Duckling on August 4, 2018, 10:46am I found this movie heartwarming and cute. I liked the characters. And enjoyed the acting by the main boy. It is rather predictable but it is still a nice movie to watch.

ok submitted by kbahleda on August 21, 2018, 1:21pm Great cast...,the only thing I didn't really like about it was the switching to each character's perspective

A tearful pick me up submitted by lstorc on August 28, 2018, 6:54pm This was dramatic and poignant. The characters were heartfelt and realistic. The story will restore your faith in humanity.
