COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A Fine Interpretation submitted by majean on August 5, 2018, 2:43pm I was not really familiar with this story until I watched this movie. I found it largely well-acted and enjoyable. For such a limited location, it was also quite lovely.

Not as good as the book submitted by ferielp on August 16, 2018, 11:43am This is one of my favorite Agatha Cristie novels, alongside 'And Then There Were None' and 'Three Blind Mice'. The fear, suspense and tone from the book just didn't translate onto the screen.

This is an interesting new take on the old 70s movie of the same short novel by the Great Agatha. submitted by Tassos on March 4, 2019, 10:29am Pleasant to watch from beginning to end, no boring parts really. This movie adaptation was different, but JUST as good as the one done several decades ago.

Usually movies based on great books are far inferior to the books they are based on. This is true of classics such as works by Dickens, Tolstoy etc, but NOT true of any Agatha Christie book I ever read.

In fact, I find the movies made from Agatha's talkative short novels FAR BETTER than the books they are based on. I always get really impatient when I read any book by Agatha and have to go though a ton of CRAP (ie, small talk and unimportant details) before I get to the MEAT of the story.

Such a good story submitted by teri on August 13, 2019, 4:42pm And the characters that Christie set up are just asking to be played by people like Cruz, Depp, Branagh, etc.
And then there was the star-studded 1974 production with greats like Finney, Bacall, Connery, Redgrave, Gielgud, Perkins. And late-coming David Suchet in 2010.
No favorites - they were all wonderful! Thanks to Dame Agatha.

I loved the old one too submitted by ccrose on August 29, 2019, 9:40pm This version had a lighter touch. Serious of course a murder has occurred. The combo especially the male characters, were quite a casting genius. Would you ever think Kenneth Branagh and Johnny Depp could be on the same train?!

Good mystery submitted by jcottey on July 22, 2020, 8:52am Good story that moved right along, without any down time. I noticed and appreciated that a fight scene was short and to the point of the plot, not drawn out for 15 minutes like in so many current action movies. There were so many great actors cast in the movie. I really enjoyed it.
