The Mountain Unites Them submitted by Meginator on July 31, 2018, 9:36pm More than just a survival story, this film attempts to explore the relationship that develops between two people who are stranded on an isolated mountain for several weeks. Kate Winslet and Idris Elba turn in the high-quality performances they are capable of, but are betrayed slightly by a script that doesn't quite allow their relationship to develop organically; nor do the characters grow much beyond their basic defining features as relayed early in the film. Despite some missed opportunities there, the film does move in some interesting directions that distinguish it from similar stories, including a final act that is surprising for its very inclusion, if not its contents. This film doesn't hold too many surprises, but its actors are convincing and it offers enough unique pieces to distinguish it from the mass of similar films.

Oh, and if you're an animal lover, rest assured--it's going to be okay.
