First Doctor through modern eyes submitted by valjean on August 20, 2018, 8:18am Not strictly necessary to watch, as all Doctor Who Christmas specials are, but definitely worth the time. If you haven't seen the classic season's episodes, this will introduce you to the First Doctor, albeit slightly tongue-in-cheek to the antiquated character of the 1960s. They had fun with his personality, but it gives a great brief look into what he was like. The story itself is a nice wrap-up to Capaldi's Doctor, giving you some insight into the final fates of Bill and Nardole and even a character from the second episode Capaldi was in as The Doctor. Definitely worth a rental to prepare you for Jodie Whittaker's run.
