Great wordless book, let’s you talk about bullying with your kid’s words

This is a wordless book. The story is told entirely in pictures. This particular wordless book is really a great place to start teaching your kids how to “read” the pictures in picture books or graphic novels and to start them on a journey of visual communication literacy. It’s a short simple story so it’s pretty easy to follow what is going on so even folks (kids) who haven’t read a lot of wordless books should have an easy time following this one.
Outside of that, this is also a great story for starting a conversation with your kids about bullying. It seems very appropriate that the idea is introduced without words because it really allows you to start talking with your young learners exactly where they are. There’s no new words to explain, just the actions they see on the page. And you can even let them describe what they see happening and know exactly which words they already have for bullying or for allies helping. I just had an excellent conversation with my 4 year old about bullying and we started with what he knows, the book gave us room for that. Great book!
