Read by Karen White.
The author argues that Louisa's "Marmee," Abigail May Alcott, was in fact the intellectual and emotional center of her daughter's world--exploding the myth that her outspoken idealist father was the source of her progressive thinking and remarkable independence.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Fascinating biography of the author of Little Women and her mother submitted by SusanS on July 22, 2020, 12:51pm This book focused on the life of Louisa May Alcott and her mother, Abba May Alcott. There are many interesting details about their family, including their connections with the American Revolution and the founding of the United States, and their involvement in both the anti-slavery and women's suffrage movements. The author also discussed Louisa's writing and her mother's influence on it. I think this would be interesting to everyone interested in this area of American history, as well as fans of Little Women.

Great for Little Women enthusiasts submitted by Reading Neighbor on June 25, 2022, 3:49pm Historically-based look at Louisa May Alcott's mother and extended family. Those familiar with Louisa May Alcott's writing will recognize much of her stories in this book.
