weird submitted by johnbiancke on January 10, 2015, 12:13pm too weird for words

interesting submitted by manz on January 14, 2015, 9:27am You definitely need to be in the right mood to watch this one. It's on all the lists for top films of the year, but it wasn't really my cup of tea.

Really, really strange submitted by GJBarnett2 on June 22, 2016, 7:39am I watched this to the end out of curiosity, finding it hard to believe anyone would have invested money in something this awful, so it had to get better. I was wrong. Loved by critics, it's an "Emperor's New Clothes" movie: the cognoscenti praise it because they're afraid to speak up and say it really is the unmitigated crap it appears to be in the face of other critics' approval. "Visually stunning" they say but almost no dialogue (much of that in unintelligible Scottish dialects) and a pointless, incomprehensible story.

Sets, Maintains an Eerie Tone submitted by nb419 on November 3, 2016, 6:51pm This film explores culture from an extreme but revealing angle. It does not give you all the answers, but raises questions of how we interact with each other and what drives us that linger in the mind for days and weeks.

The extras included on this disc reveal the way many of the scenes were improv-ed to get a natural, gritty look that make the fantastic premise all too believable.

Oh, and Scarjo plays an otherworldly, ruthless yet crushingly empathetic character who is naked too extensively and completely to qualify as "gratuitous".

3.5 stars,
-.5 for the big bad remaining unresolved
-1.0 for no Spiderman

Inspired me to read the book submitted by sushai on August 21, 2018, 9:00pm I enjoyed, if that's the word, this strange movie but was left feeling befuddled, so I read the book. As is often the case, the book is better, but in this case not just better but wholly enlightening. So much more of the plot is revealed, which includes a much more elaborate story about the evils of factory farming.
