COMMUNITY REVIEWS
World Music: a Primer for Westerners submitted by ChrisRidgway on July 5, 2022, 9:42am I first heard this album in 2006, it was summertime and was being played outside on a very loud stereo system. It was the first time I had heard a Derek Trucks album the whole way through. I still love this album and return to it all the time. It is not your typical southern slide style guitar based music, sure, that is part of the equation, but there is a very big world music element to this album. The liner notes (if anyone actually reads those any more...) talks briefly about the lineage of what a "songline" traditionally means in other musical cultures.
