I had not expected to appreciate it as much as I did, I thought it would be sexist and outdated, however, I was surprised to see how well it held up over time. It is the perfect light-hearted comedy with romance.

anyways i can’t believe it took me this long to see this. i genuinely understand the praise now. it’s idyllic, but simultaneously realistic. it’s a rare type of rom-com that has fun, but actually confronts some of the truths of life. there’s nothing more unpredictable than human emotion, and that’s what makes relationships terrifying, especially for harry and sally. they shy away, for years, from something that could be great because they just don’t know what might happen. they’re terrified of ruining a good thing because they don’t know what to expect. and that’s a damn shame. although they make their way together in the end, which brought me to tears, it still makes me wonder, what happened to just taking risks? what happened to love?? what happened to the thrill of it all?
