While the story line was ok I think the movie got bogged down by the long list of famous actors all trying to take the spotlight. I don't know why studios insist on doing this over and over again when it always seems to backfire.

I was interested in the historical aspect of the story, remembering only bits of ABSCAM as it occurred when I was a young woman. That this story is based on a true story is what blew my mind, and reading about the real story against the way it was depicted was interesting, to me.

I liked it submitted by monkk on June 22, 2014, 8:46pm It reminded me of Goodfellas and Blow, two of my favorites, with a bunch of current famous people. Sometimes a bit over the top acting-wise, I do like the actors and the subject so I enjoyed it.

didn't meet expectations submitted by bookher on August 4, 2014, 9:59am Give all the Oscar hoopla surrounding this movie, I was really looking forward to seeing it but it sure didn't meet my expectations. I think the draw was all the famous actors cast in the main roles but the plot, even given the interesting twist at the end, should have been more devlopped. This movie had a lot of talented actors that were not used to their full potential.

Well Made, Not So Gripping submitted by Meginator on July 18, 2017, 7:07am This film is built on a lot of high quality elements,from excellent acting and direction to convincing costumes, making it evident why it was nominated for so many awards. However, I found something about the script to be a bit lacking; I was never quite enthralled by the characters or the story. For all of its artistry, the film doesn't really resonate, but it's entertaining enough.
