COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Well done although super vulgar submitted by jjdijkstra81 on June 15, 2014, 12:55pm Well done movie of course, Martin Scorsese, but SOOOOO vulgar. The items description says "Sex. Money. Power. Drugs.".......yup that is about it. Only it's a lot of all of them. Think soft porn meets Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas meets Boiler Room. Well done, just a little disturbing. Please do not let your underage children watch this. Good movie. Would not watch again.

Yes, it's kind of soft porn submitted by Baradlay on June 16, 2014, 8:29pm I agree with other reviews. This movie could have had less scenes of people having sex, drugs and alcohol... at some point they look so repetitive... The starring character is portrayed as an embellished, clever, astute guy while is sadly a story of a old fashion liar. Some websites show that Jordan Belfort has not paid off his debt with the people he defrauded and he's enjoying a good life after 4 years in jail. Quite sad.

Over the Top submitted by Beth Manuel on June 18, 2014, 12:16pm While it was fascinating to me to see how a person could catapult themselves into this extreme, wanton, drug addled lifestyle, I did find the scenes repetitive. Mid way through I thought that we got the point already, we know this guy would stop at nothing because of his greed and addictions. Leo looked handsome, though. What a smile.

don't waste your time! submitted by LVDS on June 22, 2014, 8:17pm A great movie to see, IF you like how TOO much power & money really does destroy a person & their families.

This may make you sick submitted by yojasor on July 14, 2014, 9:04am I was left with my mouth open by the end of the movie. I couldn't believe what I had just seen. It may have traumatized me a bit actually. I mean, It was funny and really interesting, but just the story it tells is so shocking. It's a vveerrryy graphic movie in terms of sex and drugs. Please don't let your children watch this until they're old enough.

Soft porn submitted by beeniepie on August 27, 2014, 7:08pm I agree with the other reviewers that this movie doubles as soft porn. Martin Scorsese does a great job bringing the excess of the era to life, and all the lead actors truly convinced me they were immoral, self-loathing scumbags. Even though the film was well done, I don't care to ever watch it again. Bleh and yuck.

Inappropriate for the young submitted by AprilCDB on June 19, 2015, 1:23pm This movie is extremely inappropriate for young people and should only be watched by mature adults. The story line itself was good and entertaining. However, the level of graphic sexual activity, drug use and swearing make this something you don’t want your kids subjected to.

Gross submitted by bookher on July 13, 2016, 1:51pm Disgusting movie

Excess and greed to the extreme submitted by purchasingqueen on August 20, 2016, 1:53pm If this is based on a real person, how is he still living? He did SO many drugs SO often and took SO many risks! Definitely not for the faint of heart or kids. But, as usual, DiCaprio is excellent as the main character.

Self-Indulgent Subject, Self-Indulgent Film submitted by Meginator on July 18, 2017, 12:29pm Martin Scorsese is a fantastic filmmaker, but I think he succumbed to the temptation to mirror Jordan Belfort's real-life excesses with his own cinematic ones. This film feels as self-indulgent as its subject at times, with cascades of scenes that show Belfort's various sins without moving plot or characterization forward. The basic cinematic elements are in place, with good acting and direction, but the movie could easily trim a significant portion of its running time and come out ahead. This isn't to say that The Wolf of Wall Street is a bad film, per sé, but the experience of watching it can be unpleasant, and not just because of the subject matter; Jordan Belfort is romanticized, even if he is obviously despicable, and the film glosses over the very real harm he caused. The film feels like it was made in a vacuum, and while the technical aspects are as good as you would expect from such an accomplished director, a lauded cast, and a slew of award nominations, it suffers from its own self-importance. Sounds familiar.

so so submitted by Adam Graham on August 10, 2018, 9:53pm A nicely directed film, however - it glosses over the many implications of the main character's wealth and choices.

Alright submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 1:04am Very vulgar, and some scenes were repetitive.

The Wolf of Wall Street submitted by lstorc on July 19, 2019, 12:13pm This is a disgusting film about pathetic people who shouldn't be allowed to be around other people (i.e. they should go to jail). DiCaprio seemed like he was living his dream while being this character... which is makes it hard to look at him as a serious actor in other films.

great submitted by kevinhe on July 29, 2019, 9:19pm came across this one when I was playing the summer game. good to know.
