Narrated by Margaret Hilton.
Trollope's novel centers on Mr. Harding, a clergyman of great personal integrity whose charitable income far exceeds the purpose for which it was intended. On discovering this, young John Bold turns his reforming zeal toward exposing what he regards as an abuse of privilege, despite the fact that he is in love with Mr. Harding's daughter, Eleanor.

Classic old read submitted by Kikumatsu97 on July 27, 2015, 3:19pm I was fascinated by Trollope's writing style, which at times felt more like the work of a film director than a novelist and conjured equal power. Although I wish I might have gotten to know some of these Barchester characters better within the pages of The Warden, I was never led to believe that what I saw on the page constituted the whole of their personality and life--Trollope conveys the sense that these people have a day-to-day existence beyond what he describes for the purposes of his tale.
