"Sandman based on characters created by Gaiman, Kieth, and Dringenberg"
"Originally published in single magazine form in THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE 1-6"
"A #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! Twenty-five years since THE SANDMAN first changed the landscape of modern comics, Neil Gaiman's legendary series is back--now in paperback for the first time ever! THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE heralds New York Times best-selling writer Neil Gaiman's return to the art form that made him famous, ably abetted by artistic luminary JH Williams III (BATWOMAN, PROMETHEA), whose lush, widescreen images provide an epic scope to The Sandman's origin story. From the birth of a galaxy to the moment that Morpheus is captured, THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE will feature cameo appearances by fan-favorite characters such as the Corinthian, Merv Pumpkinhead and, of course, the Dream King's siblings: Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny. Collects SANDMAN: OVERTURE #1-6"-- Provided by publisher.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Gaiman returns to the Sandman submitted by nsvinicki on August 1, 2017, 10:59am If you were looking for more stories of the Dream King after "The Wake" this book is for you!

I found a lot of the other Sandman graphic novels that were published after or concurrently with the core 11 collections to be a little hit-or-miss. Between changing writers and artists, I had a hard time keeping track of what was going on within the issues and was frustrated by the constant shift in tone and feel. This collection has all of the variety and vibrancy of the original series, and was a joy to read. The story featured here tracks Dream's journey not event-by-event, but as a larger picture. It tells scenes behind the original story, and what happens to Dream after the events of "The Wake"

Overall, a very satisfying addition to the Sandman universe.
