"The lunar colony is slowly winding down, like a small town circumvented by a new super highway. As our hero, the Mooncop, makes his daily rounds, his beat grows ever smaller, the population dwindles. A young girl runs away, a dog breaks off his leash, an automaton wanders off from the Museum of the Moon. Mooncop is equal parts funny and melancholy. capturing essential truths about humanity and making this a story of the past, present, and future, all in one. Like his Guardian and New Scientist strips, as well as his previous graphic novel, Goliath, Mooncop is told with Tom Gauld's distinctive, matter-of-fact storytelling and dry humor - an approach that has earned him fans around the world,"--Amazon.com.

Charming submitted by -alex- on April 5, 2017, 7:58pm The author's style pairs well with the chosen subject matter. The bleakness of his story is blunted somewhat by the cartoon-y illustrating style - while the spareness of his images effectively conveys the barren loneliness of the physical environment. Definitely worth adding to your reading list.

Beautiful and touching submitted by dntanzer on August 29, 2019, 12:00am This book made me cry in a sad but very good way. It's cute and charming and funny and a little sad. Well worth reading.

Cute and Sweet submitted by samanthar on July 18, 2022, 1:21pm A really cute (and short) graphic novel about a man living on the moon while its population is slowly declining. The human inhabitants are choosing to move back to Earth, and their work positions are being replaced by robots. The man living on the moon (and working as a mooncop) witnesses all of these changes, and while it does begin to feel sad and desolate, the ending is very sweet and uplifting. I really enjoyed this one!

Boring. submitted by KidBlue on September 18, 2022, 8:25pm Very poor art. Rather pretentious storytelling in that the author seems to want the slow pacing and dull silences to be about something, or to say something. In this he fails.
