Influential, Yet Under the Radar submitted by Meginator on June 14, 2023, 11:20am As a lifelong fan of rock music, listening to these albums was an interesting experience; while they are compelling enough on their own, their lasting influence is immediately obvious, and the music feels years ahead of its time while still feeling intimately connected to the early 70s. Though Big Star tends to fly under the radar, they are definitely worth listening to for anyone who is interested in the major transitional points of rock music, and anyone who is interested in the development of what would eventually become alt-rock. This is the kind of popular music that is not only important, but also genuinely enjoyable in its own right, and it’s a shame that it has to fly under the radar because it’s really rather good.
