Scott Westerfeld presents the sequel to his hit steampunk novel, Leviathan. In the midst of conflict with the Clankers, the Darwinists' war efforts rely on the behemoth, the largest, most feared creature in the British navy. Deryn, posing as a boy so that she may serve in the Air Service, finds herself aboard the Leviathan along with Alek, the heir to the empire, who is also in disguise. However, when the Leviathan's mission goes awry, Alek and Deryn must team up and outrun the relentless enemy.

Awesome submitted by LuzrovRulay on July 11, 2016, 5:45pm I was a huge fan of this series from the moment I picked it up. Being able to listen to it and relive the experience while I was taking care of various day to day tasks was a treat and I really liked it. :) I would highly recommend this, even to those who have not read the book and just prefer the audio. It is a little unfortunate that you can't enjoy the amazing illustrations that come with the text, but the story is as gripping as ever.
good battle scenes, even if you are not a fan of battles submitted by camelsamba on June 30, 2017, 9:09pm Scott Westerfeld really knows how to write battle scenes, even battles between imaginary fabricated beasts and mechanical contraptions. I'm not necessarily a fan of big battles, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of this book, the second installment in the Leviathan trilogy. The reader for the audiobook series is fabulous, comparable to Jim Dale in his ability to keep characters distinct and imbue their voices with a personality. Apparently I am missing out on fabulous illustrations by listening to this; however, my son owns the series so I will so flip through the pages to catch up.
