COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Imaginative Saxophone Jazz submitted by Meginator on June 27, 2020, 5:29pm This album has a nice mix of standards and original works, with Benny Carter and his band re-imagining well-known songs in exciting new ways. The drums and piano are particularly good accompaniments for Carter’s smooth, evocative saxophone, and the entire ensemble has an excellent sense of rhythm and melodic movement throughout each of the tracks. The solos are a nice mix of classic and modern styles, with less structure than those from previous decades but enough form to keep them moving along and enough virtuoso skill to keep them interesting even when they become difficult to follow. Overall, this is an exceptional jazz recording.
