In a late 1940's suburban world, middle-class wives, like Pat, build their lives around their husbands. Pat and Harry seem happy, but Harry confesses to his pal, Richard, that the spark is gone. He plans to leave Pat for vibrant young war widow Kay. Once Richard, a notorious ladies man, gets a look at the platinum blonde, he secretly sets out to win her affections and Harry continues to plots to take Pat out of the picture.

A good movie, good actors, saw it to the end, plus its 4 different ending versions, liked none of them. submitted by Tassos on April 29, 2019, 9:04am I enjoyed this movie from beginning to about 10 mins before it ends. Good actors, ok script, (with its weaknesses), and four unacceptable endings.

I was really rooting for some kind of Shakesperian ending where every rotten bastard lies dead on the stage.

No such luck with these clowns here, esp with Brosnan's character, who was able to avert a tragedy and did not do so for 100% selfish, petty calculations.

It was a similar reaction to the ending of the original Thomas Crowne movie with Steve McQueen as the wealthy crook Crown who gets away with 'murder'. I remember my father being indignant that he was not caught at the end and was not held accountable for his crimes.
