Not Just for Kids (But Mostly for Kids) submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2021, 7:54pm To no one’s surprise, They Might Be Giants are naturals when it comes to applying their signature humor and welcome embrace of all musical styles to overtly educational projects, and this album will educate listeners of all ages without overstaying its welcome should it become particularly beloved of younger ears. The band eschews formal didactic proclamations for humorous storytelling with gentle lessons about the alphabet, a lyrical style that suits their sense of humor rather well and (as an added bonus) probably gets the message across more effectively. The songs are quick and catchy and make use of a number of different influences, making each one a welcome surprise and making the album a fitting addition to their enormous catalogue as well as a nice change of pace for educational music.
