Improvisation with a Purpose submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2020, 9:26pm I tend to be wary of heavily improvised jazz music, but this album absolutely blew me away. Jarrett does well to gradually build surprising rhythms and melodic patterns out of repetition, and the whole album has a great sense of flow that can only be built from a single performance. This is improvised music at its finest, with all of the energy of a live inspiration and a clear point of view that gives it recognizable structure and meaning.
