The ensemble plays well together, but the solo improvisations can wander off into the wilderness; it sometimes feels like the music gets away from them a bit in flurries of unconnected notes, but it usually comes back around. The soloists’ skill level is obviously high and the effect is occasionally striking, but more often than not I felt like I didn’t have enough technical expertise to put everything together, and that made this a bit difficult to listen to at times.
