Star Trek submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on June 15, 2014, 3:33pm This second of the latest Star Trek series, a remake of the original series, features action and amazing special effects using technology not available in the 1960s and '70s. Despite the 2013 release, this film nonetheless fails the Bechdel test (if a film has two female characters speaking to each other but not about a man). "Into Darkness" has only two main female characters, one of whom is more interested in her boyfriend than the crew's mission. There are two scenes that include shirtless women, demonstrating what value women have in this society.

The film is still an interesting take on the original "Wrath of Khan" movie, including a twist on the cry "Khan!" The movie features Benedict Cumberbatch (of "Sherlock") as Khan and Zachary Quinto (of "Heroes") as Spock. "Doctor Who" fans will also recognize Noel Clarke, who played Mickey in the British show, playing a pivotal role in this movie.

Can't wait for the next one. submitted by tbbrown76 on June 18, 2014, 8:31pm Khan was a little too white, but otherwise an excellent movie.

star trek. into darkness submitted by a2sue on June 29, 2014, 9:22am star trek. into darkness -- oh how i hate star trek films! please, please, please stop making them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Into Darkness submitted by SBNB on July 29, 2014, 9:34pm This movie was very enjoyable. The themes seemed very relevant to today's world. Terrorist is relative.

Really good submitted by Henry Grimsby on July 13, 2015, 10:32am I loved it from beginning to end

KAAAAHHHHHNNNN submitted by ishhewitt on July 14, 2016, 6:18pm Seriously great. I love these Star Trek remakes. They have been well acted and well made. Granted, as you must do for past Star Trek films/series, so must you also do here and suspend your understanding of laws of physics/accurate science.

Plus Zachery Quinto and Benedict Cumberbatch? Hubba-hubba.

Good submitted by jduffy12 on August 3, 2016, 8:22pm I like it

A better reboot? submitted by toschag on August 4, 2016, 7:09pm I'm not sure if this beats the original wrath of khan, but entertaining nonetheless.

A treat! submitted by ajstemp on June 28, 2018, 12:25pm If you've been a Star Trek fan for a while, this is full of surprise and fun tie-ins, but it stands alone well, too. It's a great addition to the reboot series.

this incarnation of the series is pretty good submitted by lisa on August 14, 2018, 2:32pm good story

Great Star Trek movie! submitted by Xris on August 29, 2018, 7:47am So many great actors, and revisiting the realm of Star Trek. What's not to love?!

Good followup to Star Trek (2009) submitted by fesmondewhite on June 24, 2019, 3:31pm In the second installment of the reboot trilogy, this film capitalizes on how the now-modified original series characters deal freshly with an old foe. The special effects and action sequences are great, and the plot is thick.

Though worth watching, this film is a bit light on the original Star Trek philosophy of people working together toward a utopian society. Instead, this entry demonstrates the outcome of renouncing the values of Star Fleet.

A good movie... not great submitted by SaraP on August 2, 2019, 12:55pm It's not as good as the other movie w/ Khan, but it's not bad.

Average submitted by Clown81 on August 21, 2019, 9:22pm An average movie.

Fun submitted by Angela Argento on August 20, 2020, 4:34pm Really enjoyed this updated version of Star Trek adventures

trec submitted by smr on July 11, 2021, 1:07pm starsss

JJ Abrams sucks submitted by tisaallen on June 15, 2022, 6:38pm An improvement on the first one, but Abrams is ill-fitted to the Star Trek franchise and the real Star Trek II is a much better film.
